Citizen helpers provide assistance by, for example, distributing water or other relief goods, carrying out simple logistical tasks, or visiting residents to assess their needs. Even outside of emergencies, they can contribute to a more prepared and resilient community by assisting at information stands or awareness campaigns.
To become a citizen helper, applicants must be at least 16 years old, have a clean criminal record, be willing to complete the mandatory training, be digitally reachable and able to work with a smartphone, and be physically capable of performing the assigned tasks. After mandatory First Aid training and annual refresher courses, the volunteer's availability is always voluntary.
Interested individuals can attend one of the information evenings in Regio Neteland to learn more about the tasks, deployment opportunities, and training. The evenings will be held from 7 PM to 9 PM at the following locations: Herentals (November 12), Olen (November 13), Vorselaar (November 18), Grobbendonk (November 25), and Herenthout (November 26).
Registration for an information evening is mandatory and must be completed at least two days in advance. For more information, contact the Integrale Veiligheid Neteland department at T 014 28 51 01 or noodplanning@regioneteland.be.
