The construction of the Ypermanpark on the north side of Ieper has commenced. The park will integrate nature, water management, and recreation, respecting the site's historical past.

Contractor APK Wegenbouw began initial site works in early October for the new landscape park. The project, a collaboration between Stad Ieper and the Province of West-Vlaanderen, aims to integrate nature, water management, and recreation.
The design by Studio Basta and Atelier Ruimtelijk Advies includes new ponds, ditches, swales, species-rich grasslands, and a winter bed along the Bellewaerdebeek. These interventions will enhance biodiversity and improve water management. Visitors will have access to walking and cycling paths, a natural water play area, and various resting spots.
Elements within the park will reference the site's historical past, including the former leper colony.
The works involve the construction of the stream bed, the path structure, and the relocation of sewage from the nearby Ypermanziekenhuis.
The total cost for the Ypermanpark is 1,126,178.06 euros. The project receives financial support from European subsidies through the ARC-Interreg project, the Flemish Government, and the Province of West-Vlaanderen. Kronospan, Rotary Club Ieper, and Lions Club Ieper-Poperinge are also contributing.
