The first weekend of November in Avelgem is dedicated to the annual Festival Weekend, featuring the Feesteloop and live music on Saturday, and the Feesteworpstoet on Sunday.

The weekend of November 7th and 8th in Avelgem traditionally kicks off with the Festival Weeks. On Saturday, November 7th, the day begins with the Feesteloop, an atmospheric run through the Scheldemeersen and the central streets of Avelgem. Afterwards, visitors can enjoy 'Feeste met accordeon' and 'Feestival', with various live bands performing in local cafés and the Spikkerelle hall.
The highlight of the festival weekend takes place on Sunday with the Feesteworpstoet. Between 3 PM and 5 PM, a colorful procession of music bands, street theater, and local organizations will parade through the center of Avelgem. This year's theme is ‘around the world’. No less than 35,000 feeste (gingerbread cookies) will be thrown from the Feesteworp float to the audience, a new record.
The Festival Weeks conclude with the 'Laatste Smete' (Last Sweep). The festival float will make one final appearance, flanked by the spectacular Vuurreus (Fire Giant).
