Residents of Tremelo have spent the past months nominating their favorite tree for the ‘Tree of the Village’ competition. The contest sought trees with a special story, historical significance, or an important place in the village landscape.
This initiative by Regionaal Landschap Noord-Hageland received numerous nominations. A professional jury then selected the favorites, on which residents could vote in recent weeks.
The voting has now concluded. The announcement of the winning tree, which will receive the title ‘Tree of the Village’, will take place on Sunday, October 11, at 12:30 PM at the presbytery in Wezemaal.
The award ceremony marks the start of a pleasant afternoon filled with activities such as walks, bike rides, covered wagon tours, children's entertainment, live music, snacks, and drinks. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the activities and discover which tree will henceforth be called the ‘Tree of the Village’.
More information and the full program can be found at www.rlnh.be/agenda/bomenfeest. This project is realized with the support of Leader Hageland, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the province of Flemish Brabant, and the municipalities of Holsbeek, Rotselaar, and Tremelo.
