During Fair Trade Week, Hoeilaart is spotlighting the 'Sweet Revolution' campaign, an initiative promoting sustainable and fair products and emphasizing the importance of local and Fairtrade ingredients.

From October 7 to 18, Hoeilaart is participating in Fair Trade Week by supporting the ‘Sweet Revolution’ campaign. This initiative is a gentle call to use sustainable and (h)onest products, focusing on celebrating delicious desserts made from Fairtrade, organic, and sustainable local ingredients.
The network of Faire Gemeenten (Fair Municipalities) aims to inspire more people and bridge initiatives across various Flemish municipalities that focus on Local, Ecological & Fairtrade (LEF). The impact of our kitchen choices is significant: opting for Fairtrade chocolate supports cocoa farmers, organic eggs contribute to a healthier environment, and local products aid Flemish farmers.
During the 'Sweet Revolution', it is highlighted how small changes on our (dessert) plate can make a big difference. A creamy chocolate mousse, a light cake, or a refreshing sorbet becomes even more delicious with a sustainable and fair twist. Soon, selected interested individuals will receive a special gift related to the campaign.
On Saturday, October 17, Oxfam Wereldwinkel Hoeilaart (Oxfam World Shop Hoeilaart) is organizing an event at their terrace. Visitors can enjoy delicious Oxfam fair trade products. By bringing an empty coffee packaging of any brand, they can exchange it for a pack of Women's Hope coffee from Congo. Each cup of Congo coffee not only represents quality but also supports a fairer trade system, where the price farmers receive for their work is paramount.
