The organizer submitted both an event application and a notification for the necessary classified activity via the environmental counter at the beginning of January 2026. On January 22, 2026, this notification was declared incomplete and invalid by the competent department. It was explicitly stated that this activity is not permitted at the location in question and cannot take place there. This decision was then communicated to both the organizer and the involved association.
On May 4, 2026, the college of mayor and aldermen did grant several permits related to the practical organization of the event, including parking measures and the operation of food and drink stands. Furthermore, the governor of East Flanders gave permission under the legislation on liability insurance, under the express condition that all necessary permits are obtained.
For an event of this nature, all required permits must be in place. Essential permits are still missing in this case. Consequently, the motorcross race cannot legally take place at this location.
The city of Sint-Niklaas understands the disappointment of participants, visitors, and organizers, but emphasizes that no exception can be made to legal obligations that apply to every organizer.
