The return of students and sunny late summer weather led to a notable increase in cycling traffic in Ghent at the end of September. This represents a 33 percent increase compared to the second week of September (83,388 cyclists) and 16 percent more than in the same period last year (95,816 cyclists).
The largest increase was observed at the Isabellakaai, where the number of cyclists even doubled with a 103 percent rise.
