During 'International Suit Up Day', students and staff at PXL University College exchanged their usual campus attire for a more professional outfit, aiming to reflect on the impact of clothing on self-confidence and appearance.

On Tuesday, PXL University College swapped everyday campus outfits for a slightly more professional look. With 'International Suit Up Day', the institution wanted students and staff to reflect on the influence of clothing on their self-confidence and appearance. Reactions ranged from enthusiasm to slight regret. Student Daan Kwanten (23) jokingly stated he felt super uncomfortable in a suit afterwards.
According to general director Ben Lambrechts, it's not simply about a shirt, tie, or blazer, but about how people present themselves. "We wanted to prepare our students for a professional world and build in a moment of reflection," he explained. "You have International Suit Up Day. That's an excellent moment to think about what you actually want to project."
Lambrechts believes clothing plays a role in the first impression people form of each other, as well as in how they express their identity. "How you dress partly determines how you connect with other people and how you radiate your own identity. That is very important." However, the university college does not want to force anyone into a uniform; a classic dress code was therefore out of the question.
