From October 17 to 31, Hamont-Achel is competing for the title of Kringkampioen 2026 by collecting as many kilograms of reusable items as possible.

Between October 17 and 31, Flemish municipalities will compete against each other for the title of Kringkampioen 2026. Hamont-Achel is participating in this competition, organized by De Kringwinkel, which celebrates 25 years of reuse this year. The goal is to collectively collect as many kilograms of reusable items per inhabitant as possible.
Everyone likely has items in a cupboard, garage, or attic that are no longer used but could perfectly deserve a second life. During the Kringkampioen campaign, all these items count towards Hamont-Achel's score. The principle is simple: bring reusable goods to the nearest Kringwinkel.
Large items don't even need to be transported by yourself. They can be picked up at home for free. Make an appointment for free collection via 011 63 68 44 or by e-mail to inzameling@debiehal.be. One municipality per province will ultimately be declared Kringkampioen.
With this initiative, De Kringwinkel aims to extra highlight the importance of reuse. Items that get a second life contribute to less waste and more affordable products for others.
