The new center, located at Turnhoutsebaan 212 to 230, will serve as a central base for the daily management and maintenance of the 135-hectare park. By consolidating workshops, warehouses, and offices, the province aims to improve the efficiency and sustainability of operations.
Sustainability is a key focus of the design. The building will be fossil-free and equipped with heat pumps, green roofs, and green facades. Nesting boxes will also be provided for various bird species. The surrounding area will be made greener with an additional 500 m² of forest garden and a swale for rainwater absorption. The parking lot will feature water-permeable paving. Sustainable materials such as green concrete, wood wool insulation, and bio-based facade panels will be used in construction.
Construction has already begun and includes the demolition of existing buildings, the construction of the new center, and the landscaping of the surrounding area. The contractor is implementing measures to minimize disruption from noise, dust, and construction traffic, such as covering debris containers and following fixed routes.
