Textile bins have been removed from Oud-Turnhout's streets because they violated regulations and attracted significant illegal dumping.

The textile bins are no longer present in Oud-Turnhout. These containers did not comply with the rules of the uniform municipal police regulations (UGP). Furthermore, the amount of illegal dumping around the containers increased, with bags of waste, loose textiles, and household garbage being left behind. This not only created an unkempt environment but also caused nuisance such as odor pollution and pests.
Despite the disappearance of the bins, old textiles can still be easily collected. Reusable textiles are picked up at home six times a year. For this, residents can use the orange textile bags distributed at the beginning of the year. Extra bags can be collected free of charge at the reception of the town hall or at the recycling park.
The next collection is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4. All collection dates for this year can be found on the IOK waste calendar. The new waste calendar for 2027 will be distributed in December.
Additionally, old textiles can always be brought to the recycling park free of charge. The opening hours of the recycling park can be found at www.oud-turnhout.be/recyclagepark.
