The new natural burial ground Terra Nova in Grobbendonk invites interested parties for special introductory days on Wednesday, October 21, and Friday, October 23, showcasing its unique, nature-oriented funeral possibilities.

At Terra Nova, nature is central, with no traditional gravestones or artificial decorations. Visitors can choose to scatter the ashes of a loved one in a designated forest area or opt for the burial of a biodegradable urn.
The site comprises four zones connected by a forest path. Each zone will feature a unique, hand-carved wooden statue of a local forest animal, sawn from a tree trunk. Seating benches will also be placed in each zone for rest and reflection.
An entrance monument with nameplates will be erected, providing a visible memorial for the deceased and a place to lay flowers.
On Wednesday, October 21, at 2:00 PM, there will be an initial introductory event. The four wooden animal statues will be officially unveiled. Visitors can explore the layout of the natural burial ground and its various zones, accompanied by live music from Ensemble Vederlicht featuring Celtic harp and guitar.
The official opening of Terra Nova will take place on Friday, October 23, at 7:00 PM, in the presence of the college of mayor and aldermen. Following a speech and a poem, a guided walk through the natural burial ground will be held, with musical accompaniment by Harmonie De Broedermin.
