The municipality of Puurs-Sint-Amands and heritage cell Rivier&Land are looking for volunteers to carefully de-frame, check, and pack the extensive art collection of Romain De Saegher (3,872 works) before its move to KADOC.
The entire collection of artist Romain De Saegher will find a new home at KADOC, the Documentation and Research Centre for Religion, Culture and Society. Before the works are permanently moved, however, a special task awaits: each artwork must be carefully removed from its frame, checked for damage or mold, and safely packed. Crucially, the associated inventory information must be preserved with each piece.
The inventory of the 3,872 works, meticulously described, measured, and registered in the past, forms the key to the collection. When a work is removed from its frame, its inventory number must be written in pencil on the back. Without this number, the link between the artwork and all the information gathered about it risks being lost, making it impossible for future generations to know what piece they are looking at, where it comes from, and its story.

"The collection of Romain De Saegher belongs to the local heritage of Sint-Amands. With this move, we ensure that his work is safely preserved for future generations. We hope many volunteers will lend their shoulders to this special operation. In this way, we literally take care of our heritage together."
Culturele Erfgoedcel Rivier&Land (Cultural Heritage Cell Rivier&Land), part of the heritage operations of inter-municipal association IGEMO, supports this process along with the municipality of Puurs-Sint-Amands and KADOC. Clear action plans and suitable packaging materials have been developed.

"This is exactly what heritage care is about: not only preserving artworks, but also the stories and information connected to them. Volunteers can make a concrete contribution here. With every check, every inventory number, and every carefully packed work, they help secure a piece of Klein-Brabant's heritage for the future."
Those interested in helping prepare all these artworks for their move can register as a volunteer via erfgoed@puursam.be before November 28, 2026. Experience is not required; a willingness to care for heritage together is. Volunteers will receive a pleasant workspace, the necessary materials, and clear guidance.
