The demand for additional sports facilities for local youth had been growing. Following participatory sessions where residents expressed their needs, the local administration decided to expand the existing sports offerings with a multisport court. This new facility allows children and young people to stay active close to home and provides a venue for spontaneous gatherings, thereby optimizing public space for play, exercise, and social interaction.
The construction of the multisport court took environmental considerations into account. The court was installed on the existing paved surface of a small football pitch, minimizing the impact on the terrain. Furthermore, sound-dampening materials were selected to ensure that sports and play activities are compatible with the residential comfort of the neighborhood.
The investment in this new sports infrastructure was made possible partly through a BOA-boost subsidy. This grant is part of the local BOA policy, which aims to create additional recreational opportunities for children and young people outside of school hours.
