Zwevegem continues to invest in a heart-safe community by replacing seven outdated AED devices and installing a new one at the Kappaertsite. This brings the total number of publicly accessible AED devices in Groot-Zwevegem to twelve.
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) assists in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. The device provides clear spoken instructions, guiding users step-by-step, and can save lives while awaiting emergency services.
The AED devices are strategically and publicly accessible at various locations across Groot-Zwevegem. These locations include: Gemeentepunt – Blokkestraat 29, Sportpunt – Bekaertstraat 4, OC Malpertus – Gauwelstraat 29, OC Den Tap – Stationsstraat 2, OC De Spoele – Scheldestraat 14, OC Ter Streye – Rode Wilgenstraat 6, Sint-Amandskerk – Theophiel Toyeplein, J. Cortès Sigars HQ – Pannenbakkersstraat 1, Transfo – Transfostraat 3-15 (Mechaniekersgebouw), Maes Matress Ticking – Blokellestraat 157/B, OC De Brug – Otegemstraat 238, and OC De Slypemolen – Stedestraat 21a.
Damage, defects, or misuse of an AED device should be reported via the phone number listed on the device itself, ensuring the devices are always ready for use in emergencies.
Beyond the availability of AEDs, the municipality also regularly organizes First Aid courses to teach residents how to perform CPR, correctly use an AED, and carry out life-saving procedures.
