The municipality of Staden is organizing commemorations at the monuments in its three sub-municipalities on Wednesday, November 11. A delegation from the municipal council will visit the monuments to remember the victims of war and violence and to emphasize the value of peace and freedom.
The ceremonies will begin at 9:45 AM at the monument near the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Oostnieuwkerke. This will be followed by a ceremony at 10:30 AM at the monument near the Sint-Bavokerk in Westrozebeke. The final ceremony will take place at 11:30 AM at the monument next to the Sint-Janskerk in Staden. At each monument, the mayor will deliver a speech, supported by primary school students reciting poems and musical accompaniment by the harmony orchestra.
To ensure the safety of the commemoration in Staden, temporary traffic measures will be implemented in the town center. From 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM, the Marktplaats (between Bruggestraat and Ieperstraat), the Statiestraat (between Kapelleriestraat and Marktplaats), the Kleine Markt, and the Guido Gezelleplein will be closed to all traffic, except for emergency services.
Additionally, one-way traffic will be in effect on Bruggestraat between Sint-Jansstraat and 'de Carninstraat, with entry from the direction of Hooglede prohibited. On 'de Carninstraat, parking will be forbidden between Bruggestraat and the cemetery, and the existing one-way traffic will be temporarily lifted.
Detours will be indicated by traffic signs. From Roeselare, traffic will be rerouted via Bruggestraat, 'de Carninstraat, and Diksmuidestraat. From Diksmuide, follow Kapelleriestraat, Hospitaalstraat, Ieperstraat, Vredestraat, and Sint-Jansstraat.
