The cycling tour 'Trappen langs Kapellen' in Oudenburg, which highlighted local heritage in recent months, will be permanently retained as a tourist attraction.

The cycling tour ‘Trappen langs Kapellen’ has allowed young and old to rediscover the local heritage of Oudenburg in recent months. In addition to the many recreational participants, 260 enthusiasts also deposited their competition forms in the mailbox in the specially designed mini-chapel in the Abtspark. The 32-kilometer route combined relaxation with discovery, culture, and outdoor experience, passing 14 characteristic chapels.
A competition was linked to the cycling tour. Of the 260 submitted forms, 22 participants had answered all questions correctly. Based on the tie-breaker question, 10 participants will receive an Oudenburgbon worth 25 euros. They were personally contacted on Monday, October 5, 2026. The correct answers will be available on the city's website from October 6, 2026.
Good news for those who haven't cycled the route yet: ‘Trappen langs Kapellen’ will be included in the city's permanent offerings, albeit without the competition. From the spring, an adapted brochure will be available in the mini-chapel in the Abtspark. The route can be downloaded digitally via a QR code, and a paper map will also be provided. The posts along the route with QR codes linking to 10 audio fragments with interesting facts and stories will remain.
