On Saturday, October 3rd, the city of Kortrijk opens a third, renewed section of the Luxaplast skatepark in Marke, featuring new obstacles and improved flow for skaters of all levels.

The city of Kortrijk is opening a new section of the Luxaplast skatepark in Marke on Saturday, October 3rd. This third expansion adds extra possibilities for skaters of all levels. The design is based on input from local skaters through participatory sessions, resulting in a park that better meets users' current needs.
Alderperson for Youth Felix De Clerck emphasizes the focus on meeting places for young people. "The renewed skatepark is a great example of this. Thanks to the contribution of the local skate community, we have jointly created a skatepark that truly aligns with the wishes and needs of the users."
The renewed zone, designed by skater Jeffrey Huyghe, improves the flow with four new obstacles: a quarter and roll-in, a pyramid, speed bumps, and a bank. An existing ledge was shortened and relocated.
Alderperson for Sport Wouter Allijns sees skateboarding as a growing sport among young people. "With this expansion, we are strengthening one of the most important skate spots in our city and ensuring that both beginner and experienced skaters can develop further here. This is how we invest in modern sports infrastructure that evolves with the needs of the users."
The works were carried out by Public Partners. The investment amounts to 65,000 euros. The city also thanks the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer, vzw Jongerenatelier, JC Tranzit, and the local skate community for their cooperation.
The official opening will take place on Saturday, October 3rd at 3 PM, with an opening speech by alderperson Felix De Clerck. At 4 PM, everyone will be treated to an ice cream. More information can be found at www.kortrijk.be/jctranzit/luxa_3.0.
