Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Early detection increases the chances of successful treatment. A screening mammogram remains the most effective method for this.
The municipality of Pepingen values prevention and health. Therefore, during the breast cancer awareness month in October, from October 19 to 28, 2026, a free breast cancer screening will be organized. The Mammobiel will be located at the town square in Pepingen.
The screening is intended for women aged 50 to 69 who have not had a screening mammogram in the past two years. They will receive a personal invitation from the Centre for Cancer Detection with an appointment proposal for the Mammobiel in Pepingen.
It is important to bring your invitation, as an examination in the Mammobiel is only possible after an invitation. If the proposed appointment is not convenient, you can contact the Centre for Cancer Detection at the free number 0800 60 160, available on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. After entering your postcode, they will assist you further.
Participation in the population screening is free for those affiliated with a Belgian health insurance fund and up-to-date with their contributions. No deductibles are charged. The population screening is fully financed by health insurance and the Flemish government.
