The GezelleBrOn project aims to produce a scholarly online text edition of Guido Gezelle's complete correspondence, comprising 7700 letters. These letters are preserved in the Gezelle Archive at the Public Library of Bruges.
Four partners are collaborating on this initiative: volunteers from the Guido Gezelle Society are working with the correspondence, the Gezelle Archive guides the volunteers and handles final editing, the Centre for Gezelle Studies (University of Antwerp) contributes input from a previous project, and the digital department of KANTL, CTB, provides technical guidance and develops the edition.
Earlier this summer, the three thousandth letter was published online. CTB has replaced the traditional facsimile view with a IIIF viewer, facilitating the exchange and scholarly access to these digital images.
KANTL expresses its solidarity with heritage institutions affected by budget cuts, emphasizing that the expertise and dedication of their staff are indispensable for preserving and studying our shared cultural memory.
