The local authority of Blankenberge has finalized the allocation of nine beach concessions. The new operators will begin their nine-year concession, running until the end of 2035, on January 1, 2027. The concessions include both single plots of 2,600 m² and double plots of 5,200 m².
The procedure, which began after fifteen applications were submitted by October 1, 2026, was opened by the city services on October 5. All submitted dossiers met the participation requirements. On Thursday, October 22, the auction took place under the supervision of a bailiff, with the highest valid bid qualifying for the concession. The council emphasizes the transparency and the pre-established rules for all candidates.
The new operators must adhere to the conditions in the specifications book for the next nine years to ensure the quality of the beach operations.
The allocated plots, from west to east, are: ST 1 - Cin Cin (single), ST 2 - Lilo Beach (double), ST 3 - WP Beach by Yssis (double), ST 4 - Sun Beach (double), ST 5 - Baraq Beach (single), ST 6 - BOHO Beach (single), ST 7 - Nano Beach (single), ST 8 - Salito Beach (double), and ST 9 - Nusa Dua Beach (single). The annual concession fee will be adjusted based on the consumer price index from 2028 onwards.
Following the notification of the decision, candidates have 60 days to appeal to the Council of State. For 15 days after this notification, the city cannot implement the concession (standstill period), after which the new operators can prepare for their start in 2027.
