The City of Zoutleeuw is organizing ceremonies for All Saints' Day on November 1st at the Zoutleeuw cemetery and for Armistice Day on November 11th, with events in Helen and Zoutleeuw.

All residents, military personnel, relatives of former combatants, resistance members, deported individuals, next of kin, and other interested parties are warmly invited to commemorate together, with a special invitation extended to children and young people. From this year onwards, the All Saints' Day ceremony on November 1st will take place exclusively at the cemetery in Zoutleeuw. The Last Flight Memorial Committee, in collaboration with the City of Zoutleeuw, will provide flowers for all graves of individuals being commemorated during the ceremony. Flowers will also be placed at other cemeteries within the municipality of Zoutleeuw.
The program for November 1st begins at 1:30 PM with a gathering at the parking lot opposite Buso Zonnegroen, followed by a procession with brass band accompaniment to the cemetery for the ceremony at 2:00 PM.
On November 11th, Zoutleeuw commemorates Armistice Day and all victims of war and violence. The commemoration will start at the monument near the Vredeskerk in Helen at 8:45 AM, after which the procession will proceed to the Sint-Leonarduskerk for a traditional prayer and commemoration service. Following the service, a procession will head to the Vrijheidsmonument in the center of Zoutleeuw for a brief ceremony and flower-laying.
The program for November 11th includes a gathering at the Vredeskerk in Helen at 8:45 AM, followed by a ceremony. Afterward, the procession will move towards the Sint-Leonarduskerk, where the commemoration service begins at 10:00 AM. After the church service, participants will depart in a motorcade, escorted by police, to the Vrijheidsmonument for the concluding ceremony.
Following the commemorations, the City of Zoutleeuw and the Last Flight Memorial Committee cordially invite all participants to enjoy refreshments at De Passant. The city urges all residents to display the Belgian tricolor flag on November 11th, making our gratitude for today's freedom and peace visible and showing respect for those who gave their lives for it.
