The Grote Markt in Tienen becomes the heart of Winter Magic with a covered ice rink and a winter bar. Visitors can skate, enjoy warm drinks and donuts, while children can have fun on the carousels and the train. During the opening weekend, from November 27 to 29, Mickey, Minnie, Anna, and Elsa will visit on Sunday, November 29 at 3:00 PM.
From Saturday, December 5 to Sunday, December 6, the Winter Market takes place on the Grote Markt, where associations and stallholders offer regional products and gift items from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Street entertainment provides extra atmosphere during end-of-year shopping. Shops are also open on Sundays, December 6, 13, 20, and 27. Those who collect a stamp card with five stamps from different Tienen traders will receive a gift.
The Torekesplein will be dedicated to treats and solidarity from Friday, December 11 to Sunday, December 13. The Tiense Bakkersbond will bake fresh 'totemannen' from a wood-fired oven, Tienen Beleeft vzw organizes a craft market with local entrepreneurs, and the Shoebox action by OpgewekTienen collects gifts for vulnerable families.
Santa Claus will open his house in the town hall (Grote Markt 27) on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, and again on Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Children can take photos with him and receive a surprise. On December 19 and 20, a Christmas carriage will also drive through the center.
On Sunday, December 20, Tienen kicks off the coziest period of the year with an end-of-year relay race on the Grote Markt. Teams of three runners can participate in a 10 km course, with separate courses for the youngest participants at 5:20 PM, 5:30 PM, and 6:00 PM. Registration is possible via wintermagie.be.
Lucifer’s Party will bring a spectacular fire show to the Grote Markt on Saturday, December 26 at 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM. On Sunday, December 27, a tractor light parade will travel through Oorbeek and Kumtich, with a children's light parade at 5:00 PM.
