The city of Tienen is seeking residents from the sub-municipalities of Kumtich, Oorbeek, Bost, Grimde, and Hakendover who are willing to install a Telraam device at their homes.

These traffic counters measure the number of pedestrians, cyclists, cars, and heavy traffic from the first or second floor of a home. The collected data, which cannot be traced back to individual addresses or persons, will be used to develop a long-term mobility vision for the city. The city is working on a traffic model for its entire territory within the ‘Flemish Local Digital Twin’ project, supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
Mobility alderman Olivia Verstrepen emphasizes that the Telramen are small devices (6.5 x 10 cm) that capture low-resolution images which are not stored. The measurements cannot be linked to a home address; the map on www.telraam.net only shows a section of the street where measurements are taken, not the specific house address.
Candidates must have a window on the first or second floor with an unobstructed view of the road, free from obstacles. Locations with sufficient traffic are required; dead-end streets are not eligible. The device must remain in place for at least one year. Participants will have access to their data through a personal dashboard.
Interested individuals can apply via an online form by Friday, November 13, '26. More information can be found at www.telraam.net.
