With the safety of students as a priority, PISO Tienen has once again outlined the key traffic regulations for electric scooters. The police have observed that not all rules are being followed, which can lead to serious accidents with severe injuries annually.
The school emphasizes the following rules: only one person per scooter is allowed, as riding with two people is dangerous and prohibited. As of this month, wearing a helmet is mandatory for speeds exceeding 20 km/h. Furthermore, there is a minimum age of 16 years for using e-scooters.
The police will be paying extra attention to compliance with these rules in the coming period. Violations can result in fines of up to 75 euros. More detailed information on e-scooter traffic regulations can be found on the Veilig Verkeer website.
