The municipality of Tervuren had an old, dead linden tree next to the St. Hubertus Chapel felled to ensure safety during the traditional St. Hubertus Celebration.

The annual St. Hubertus Celebration, a tradition that has brought people and animals together for a century, was almost jeopardized by a dangerous linden tree. The tree, which had been dead for a long time, posed a risk with expected strong winds.
Following consultations between the municipal green services, the Agency for Nature and Forest, and the local forester, the decision was made to remove the tree before the celebration. This required a technical feat.
The green services worked with extreme care. From a cherry picker, the tree's crown was removed first, after which the trunk was sawn to fall in a controlled manner. Extra vigilance was needed as metal objects were hidden deep within the wood.
Thanks to craftsmanship, patience, and teamwork, the tree was safely felled and processed, making the area safe for the celebration. The municipality of Tervuren thanks the green services staff for their swift action and expertise.
