Wyre, a collaboration between Telenet and Fluvius, will begin the installation of a new fiber optic network in Ternat on November 9. The work, which will last until the Christmas holidays, will take place between 7 AM and 5 PM.

During the installation of the fiber optic cables, a trench will be dug in the sidewalk or verge. The streets involved in this phase are: Fazantenlaan, Lijsterlaan, Vinkenlaan, Mezenlaan, Leeuwerikenlaan, Zwaluwlaan, Reigerlaan, and Weidestraat. Following a positive evaluation, a next phase will commence.
The street will remain accessible to motorized traffic, but the roadway will be partially occupied, requiring alternating traffic. The sidewalk or verge will be fully occupied at the construction site, requiring pedestrians to cross the street. All homes will remain accessible via temporary bridges, but driveways or garages may be temporarily inaccessible during the day. Caution is advised near the work zone. Wyre is minimizing disruption, and the contractor will distribute a resident's letter.
This 'Fiber-to-the-Home' network provides residents with access to a wider range of telecom operators, offering more consumer choice. Fiber optics offer benefits such as lightning-fast internet connections, smooth video calls, seamless 4K streaming, and a stable connection for remote work and gaming.
