The parking lot at the Gerard Walschap Community Centre in Londerzeel is set for a thorough renovation. Work will commence between November 5-9 and conclude by the end of the year, aiming to make the surroundings greener, more pleasant, and safer.

The parking lot at the Gerard Walschap Community Centre will soon undergo a significant renovation. The municipality aims to make the environment greener, more pleasant, and safer for visitors, associations, and local residents. The work is scheduled to start between November 5 and 9, 2026, and will be completed before the end of the year.
The parking area will not only be made more practical with clearly marked parking spaces according to current standards, including 2 spaces for people with disabilities and 2 charging points for electric vehicles, but will also feature more greenery with facade gardens, perennials, shrubs, and trees where possible. The current bicycle racks will be replaced by multiple bike hoops, including a specific hoop for cargo bikes and other models. Additionally, free charging points for electric bicycles will be available.
Furthermore, the environment will be enhanced with a walking path along the facade garden and the installation of benches. Measures will also be taken to improve rainwater infiltration into the soil. The work will proceed in phases: first, the bicycle storage and the facade garden at the front, followed by the marking of parking spaces, and finally, the replanting of the facade garden on the left side of the building.
The exact duration of the works is not yet known, but everything will be completed before the end of 2026. Minimal disruption is expected during the construction period.
