The Province of Flemish Brabant and Werkburo Leuven honored dozens of supported workers at the Provincial House in Leuven. These jubilarians received a medal in recognition of their 10, 20, or 25 years of dedication. Through this ceremony, both organizations highlighted the valuable contribution of these workers to various sectors, including companies, schools, healthcare institutions, and local authorities.
Supported employment enables individuals with physical, intellectual, or other limitations to utilize their talents within a regular work environment, with the support of a job coach. This voluntary and unpaid work is tailored to the worker's capabilities and interests. They undertake diverse supportive tasks, which can streamline processes and allow colleagues to focus more on their core responsibilities. Their commitment daily strengthens organizations and contributes to an inclusive local economy.
During the ceremony, the supported workers were the focus. The Province of Flemish Brabant and Werkburo Leuven expressed their gratitude for the commitment shown by some for 10, 20, or even 25 years, with several jubilarians having been active at the same workplace for a quarter of a century.
