The municipality of Hoeilaart is expanding its targeted approach to rat nuisance to the sports site. Starting Monday, October 26, the specialized company Rentokil will install additional secure bait stations, while other neighborhoods are also being investigated.

Following the start of control measures in the Jan van Ruusbroecpark in early October, where six secure bait stations were placed, the sports site is now next. The company Rentokil will apply the same control method there and checks the stations every two weeks.
The enclosed stations are designed to combat rats and are not accessible to children, walkers, or other animals. The municipality is also investigating measures for other neighborhoods where reports of rat nuisance have been received.
Consideration is being given to deploying previously purchased rat traps in residential areas. Combating rats requires a sustained approach, with the situation being closely monitored and evaluated.
Residents who notice rats in public areas are encouraged to report them via the Hoeilaart app or at hoeilaart.be/meldingen. These reports help to better map the nuisance and the affected locations.
