Three producers from the Straffe Streek network, The JAVA Coffee Company, Fermentistas, and Odette Noisette, are in contention for the 'Product Made in Vlaams-Brabant' award, having been selected among the five finalists by Made in Vlaams-Brabant from approximately 250 submissions.

The 'Product Made in Vlaams-Brabant' Awards highlight local products and businesses. From around 250 entries, five candidates were selected per region. In Vlaams-Brabant, three of these are from the Straffe Streek network.
The JAVA Coffee Company focuses on slow-roasting coffee beans at lower temperatures, with great attention to bean selection and origin. As a member of Straffe Streek, their nomination recognizes the craftsmanship behind their product.
Fermentistas is nominated for its unpasteurized kimchi, where vegetables, herbs, and spices develop their characteristic flavor through artisanal fermentation, preserving natural lactic acid bacteria.
Odette Noisette produces granola based on oats, seeds, kernels, nuts, and local honey, baked at low temperatures until crispy. Their product aligns with the Straffe Streek ethos of flavorful, locally sourced goods.
It is excellent news that three Straffe Streek producers are among the finalists, showcasing the entrepreneurship, creativity, and craftsmanship of local products. Voting is open until November 8 via the Made in website.
