During the nights of October 16-17, 2026 and October 17-18, Politiezone Zennevallei conducted targeted alcohol and drug checks at nine locations, screening 930 drivers.

A total of 930 drivers were checked. The initial screening (sampling) indicated the presence of alcohol in 48 drivers, followed by a breathalyzer test. These tests yielded 15 'Alarm' results and 13 'Positive' results. Additionally, three drivers tested positive for THC (cannabis) and one for cocaine.
During the control action from October 16-17 at four locations, 413 samplings were taken. Alcohol presence was indicated in 23 drivers. The subsequent breathalyzer tests resulted in 10 'Alarm' and 6 'Positive' outcomes. Furthermore, there was 1 immediate fine for not wearing a seatbelt, one driver tested positive for cocaine, and one fine was issued for violations related to inspection, registration, and protective clothing for a motorcyclist.
At five control locations during the action from October 17-18, 517 samplings were taken. Alcohol presence was indicated in 25 drivers. The breathalyzer tests resulted in 5 'Alarm' and 7 'Positive' outcomes. Moreover, three drivers tested positive for THC (cannabis).
In addition to alcohol and drug findings, 10 immediate fines were issued for not wearing a seatbelt. One driver's license was immediately revoked for mobile phone use while driving. Three vehicles were immobilized and/or towed: one lacked valid insurance, one driver did not comply with the conditions of a provisional license, and one driver used a forged license.
These results underscore the necessity of driving under the influence checks. Politiezone Zennevallei will therefore continue to conduct targeted controls to enhance road safety for all users.
