Gemeente Zele

On Wednesday, November 11, the municipality of Zele will commemorate the victims of both world wars with a solemn procession and ceremony at the memorial on Koningin Astridplein.

The Zele community annually gathers around the monument to pay tribute to the victims. Youth movements, cultural associations, schools, sports clubs, and invited guests stand side by side, from young to old, to reflect on the past. The commemoration also serves as a moment to reflect on current wars and the importance of cherishing peace.
The program includes a procession to the war memorial. The ceremony begins with a service in the Sint-Ludgeruskerk at 9:30 AM. At 10 AM, participants will gather at the Marktplein for the procession, which starts at 10:20 AM towards the Monument der Gesneuvelden en Oorlogsslachtoffers on Koningin Astridplein. The civil ceremony at the monument will take place at 11 AM.
Following the ceremony, there will be a 'static show' of participating historical vehicles at the Fonteinhof.
