Erfdeel Kluisbergen is launching an appeal for photos and slides from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s to fill a new photo book.

Following previous publications such as "Vriendenryck Kluisbergen" (2009), "Over straten en pleinen" (2014), and "Klassevol Kluisbergen" (2019), Erfdeel Kluisbergen is now focusing on the more recent past. The emphasis is on the period when color photography became widespread and many families owned a camera. The association is looking for images linked to the community life of the municipality, not purely private snapshots.
Images sought include those from club life (sports clubs, youth movements, socio-cultural associations), class photos, events, festivals, fairs, religious ceremonies, political gatherings, and material related to business, trade, and hospitality. Photos of vanished buildings, village views, and landscapes from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s are also welcome.
Residents who find usable photos or slides can bring them to the library. Erfdeel Kluisbergen will provide a scan or digital file, after which the original will be returned. Self-scanning and emailing to erfgoed@kluisbergen.be with a resolution of at least 300 dpi is also possible. Each submission requires some explanation about the content, location, and period, although not all depicted persons need to be identified. Explicit permission for publication, both in print and online, is necessary.
As an extra incentive, every resident who provides at least one usable photo stands a chance to win a free copy of the book. The goal is to create a book that reflects the community, with good representation from all areas of public life and all sub-municipalities.
