The signage at Lokaal Dienstencentrum De Vlaschaard on Jubileumlaan, which previously had a confusing mix of signs and unclear room names, has been revamped. The City of Ghent has revised the wayfinding to make the building more readable. This includes color zones, large numbers, and recognizable icons or photos of activities.
The new system divides spaces into color zones, with colored door frames and large numbers guiding visitors to the correct area. Rooms have been given simple names instead of terms like 'amphitheater' or 'palaestra'. The rollout of this signage will extend to other service centers in the coming years.
According to the City of Ghent, this adjustment can make a world of difference for visitors, enabling everyone to orient themselves more easily, find their way independently, and feel welcome in the local service centers.
