3M Belgium will carry out remediation in the 'other residential area', indicated as the purple zone on the map. Properties within this area may be remediated. Citizens can check via the geoloket if their home falls within this zone.
According to the approved remediation plan, vegetable gardens, greenhouses, and chicken coops will be remediated free of charge. After remediation, these areas can be used again for growing vegetables and fruit, and for keeping chickens. Even those who currently do not have a vegetable garden, greenhouse, or chicken coop but wish to have one, can have a part of their garden remediated.
To inform owners and residents about the concrete impact of the planned remediation works, 3M Belgium is organizing two online info sessions. Together with soil expert ERM and OVAM, explanations will be given on the reasons for remediation, the process of the works, expectations, and the start date. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions to the experts.
The online info sessions will take place on November 10th at 7 PM and on November 12th at 2 PM. Registration is possible via the website.
Those unable to attend can find a recording of one of the sessions and answers to frequently asked questions online after the sessions. For those who still have questions after the online sessions or prefer one-on-one advice, an information market will be held on November 18th from 4 PM onwards at the primary school Het Laar in Zwijndrecht.
More information and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the website.
