The proceeds from the action, where the youths earn 70 euros per day, will go entirely to projects by engaged young people globally. This year, the campaign focuses on a fair economy under the slogan #VOORGEENGELDTERWERELD.
The city of Eeklo participates as an employer to encourage young people to contribute to a sustainable and just society. Simultaneously, they get the chance to explore the wide range of jobs within the local administration. This year, the city is pleased to welcome 18 youths, 16 of whom attend school in Eeklo, which is double the number from last year.
The youths were welcomed this morning at the City Hall. After a brief welcome, they started working in various city departments, including the library, Cultuurhuis Herbakker, the sports department, Jongerenhuis OverKop, the secretariat, public works, Eeklonet, the greenery department, LDC Zonneheem, and the communication department.
The city thanks all students for their interest and commitment and hopes they have an educational and meaningful day.
