Through this new measure, Stad Lommel aims to strengthen the presence of AED devices in the city. In the event of cardiac arrest, quick access to an AED is crucial. By supporting local associations and organizations in the maintenance of these devices, which must be accessible day and night, emergency response is brought closer.
The maintenance subsidy is intended for recognized local associations and non-commercial organizations that install a fully automatic AED device at their infrastructure in Lommel. The device must be publicly accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The subsidy covers the costs for annual maintenance up to a maximum of 250 euros per year, and can never exceed the amount on the invoice. This scheme runs until December 31, 2031.
Associations and organizations that have purchased an AED device from January 1, 2025 onwards can also apply, provided they meet the conditions. Those who are still planning to purchase a device can also submit an application.
An AED device analyzes heart rhythm and can administer an electrical shock if necessary. By making devices permanently accessible in as many locations as possible, faster intervention is possible in an emergency situation.
