The municipality of Pelt is working on a new future for Haspershoven, an area of approximately 10 hectares centrally located between Overpelt-Centrum and Neerpelt-Centrum. On Tuesday evening, October 27, the municipality is organizing an information market to gather ideas and points of attention for the development of a green, sustainable residential area.

The Haspershoven area, situated between Leopoldlaan, Sint-Jorisstraat, Haspershovenstraat, and De Koel, has been designated by the municipality of Pelt as a strategic location for housing, in line with the spatial policy plan Peltorama 2050. The ambition is to create a new residential neighborhood that not only focuses on social interaction, quality of life, and mobility but also adds value to the surrounding area through a high-quality combination of housing, green spaces, water, public areas, and mobility.
A study team is currently working on a new master plan and a mobility study. These studies will examine the precise details of construction, the connection to existing neighborhoods, and the creation of safe cycling and walking routes. The proximity to the Dommelvallei and the integration of green spaces and water play a crucial role. The entire process, including the translation into a spatial implementation plan (RUP), is expected to take approximately three years.
The municipality is actively involving owners, local residents, and other interested parties in the project. An information market will be held on Tuesday evening, October 27, at Campus VOX, Leopoldlaan 45. Visitors will receive information about the project's history, current status, and future course. Their input, ideas, and concerns will be incorporated into further research. Due to expected interest, time slots will be used, and pre-registration via www.participelt.be/haspershoven is required.
Information from the information market will be available from October 28 on Participelt, where people can also respond online. The project receives financial support from the province of Limburg.
