For the first time, student associations and clubs from Hogeschool PXL, UHasselt, and UCLL are joining forces. The creation of the Limburg Praeses Council (LPR) establishes a single consultative body to enhance collaboration within Limburg's student life. The LPR emerges from the former Hasselt Praeses Council (HPR) and Diepenbeek Praeses Council (DPR), merging to avoid duplication of efforts and suboptimal communication.
The new council aims to improve communication between associations, better coordinate activities, organize joint initiatives and training sessions, serve as a central point of contact for external partners, and strengthen the representation of Limburg's student associations as a unified network.
During the installation meeting on June 29, Lars Schrijvers, a student at PXL and former chairman of Hexion, was elected as the first chairman of the LPR. He is supported by three vice-chairpersons: Zoë Morrien (PXL), Janne Van Den Driessche (UHasselt), and Sebastiaan Conjaerts (UCLL).
This collaboration across institutional boundaries is the result of joint efforts by PXL, UHasselt, and UCLL, inspired by consultative bodies in other student cities like LOKO in Leuven. The LPR aims to create a shared Limburg narrative where student associations connect and realize joint initiatives.
The official presentation of the LPR took place on Thursday, October 15, at UHasselt in Diepenbeek, where representatives from the institutions and the new board outlined their ambitions for the coming years.
