For many children, presents, coziness, and warmth are central to the holiday season. Unfortunately, this is not a given for every family. That's why local volunteers, supported by Missiecomité Achel, Ferm, and the former leaders of Chiro Achel, are joining forces again for De Wensboom. The initiative aims to relieve families facing financial difficulties of the worry about holiday gifts for their children.
Last year, thanks to numerous donations, over 150 children up to 14 years old from Hamont-Achel were surprised with a gift. This year, volunteers hope to raise sufficient funds again to provide as many children as possible with a warm end to the year. Every donation goes directly towards purchasing gifts.
The social services of Hamont-Achel determine which children are eligible based on objective criteria, ensuring donations reach families who can use extra support. The assistance is completely discreet; families receive gifts anonymously.
