The My City App, an initiative that saw significant growth in 2026, has become more than just a news channel for municipalities. Residents can now also report neighborhood problems, ask questions to the digital assistant LiSA, and receive emergency alerts. Meanwhile, Sint-Truiden and Hechtel-Eksel have joined, bringing the total to 21 active municipalities.

Starting in March, the app entered a phase of rapid development with three major updates aimed at simplifying life for Limburg residents. First, smart illegal dumping reports were launched, allowing citizens to take photos of dumped waste. These reports, along with their location, are sent directly to the municipality, eliminating the need for lengthy forms.
In May, LiSA, the Limburg Smart Assistant, was introduced. LiSA answers questions about municipal services using only information from the respective municipal website. By early July, residents had already submitted 4,199 questions in 2,718 conversations.
Finally, My City App is the first Belgian app with BE-Alert integration. Users receive immediate instructions and updates during emergencies. Municipalities can also create localized emergency alerts down to the street level.
Between March and October, 1,603 reports were received from 16 cities and municipalities. Of these, 1,097 were identified as illegal dumping (68%) and 331 as litter. Residents also reported full trash bins, vandalism, and fallen trees. The highest number of reports came from Genk (358), Tongeren-Borgloon (323), and Maasmechelen (275).
This year, two new municipalities joined: Sint-Truiden and Hechtel-Eksel. Sint-Truiden had a flying start after joining this summer, with 4,476 registered addresses, placing the city in second place. In Hechtel-Eksel, 450 addresses have been registered, and 27 reports have been received from residents.
The number of unique addresses increased by one-third in 2026, from 27,184 to 35,760.
