Bird flu has been confirmed in poultry belonging to a hobby farmer in Tongeren-Borgloon. Consequently, a surveillance zone with a 10-kilometer radius has been established around the location.
A significant portion of Bilzen-Hoeselt falls within this surveillance zone. This includes the entire municipality of Hoeselt, as well as the sub-municipalities of Rijkhoven, Grote- en Kleine-Spouwen, Martenslinde, Beverst, and Bilzen-centrum.
In the affected areas, a strict housing obligation is in effect for all hobby poultry. This means that direct contact with wild birds must be avoided at all times. The movement or gathering of poultry, such as at markets, is also prohibited.
These measures will remain in force until at least October 30. Poultry keepers are advised to consult all applicable regulations and to report any signs of illness immediately.
