From October 26th, students from the three municipal primary schools and the Antoniusschool will once again have swimming lessons in their own municipality. For the second consecutive year, the movable swimming hall from Swimwise will be located on Achterstraat. Swimming lessons for students of Klim-Op primary school and Sint-Elisabethschool will continue to take place in Lille.
The SwimClad, a 15-meter long and 6-meter wide pool accommodating up to 30 students, will remain in Zoersel until February 2027. By allowing students to swim close to their schools, less lesson time is lost due to travel.
Following last year's positive experience, the municipal council approved a four-year agreement with Swimwise. This ensures that schools can utilize nearby swimming facilities in the coming years. In addition to school hours, Swimwise will also organize supplementary swimming activities for other residents.
The construction of the swimming hall will begin in early October. This year, it will be situated on the grass field in the middle of the parking lot on Achterstraat, a new location compared to last year. This new spot ensures that the use of the pool is no longer audible in the nearby classrooms.
