With the darker days returning, enhanced visibility in traffic is crucial. Therefore, the municipality of Zandhoven has gifted a free high-visibility vest to all 1,400 students in its primary schools. This action supports the broader 'Helmet on, Fluo top' campaign, which encourages children to be both visible and protected when using the road.
The high-visibility vests have been given a unique Zandhoven touch: the back features Grabbie, the well-known mouse and mascot of the Grabbelpas. This ensures that Grabbie will now accompany young residents when they are out and about on foot or by bicycle.
Through this initiative, the municipality aims not only to increase children's visibility but also to raise awareness among parents and other road users about the importance of traffic safety. Grabbie has long been involved in promoting safe school environments; Grabbie signs are placed in various locations in Zandhoven to alert drivers when they are approaching a school zone.
