The renewed walking network offers not only more nature but also more experience. New routes guide walkers through nature reserves such as Rode Del in Arendonk and Schaapswees in Westerlo. New experiential elements have also been added, such as a boardwalk in Provincial Groendomein Hertberg (Herselt), stepping stones in the Lovenhoek nature reserve (Vorselaar), and a footbridge over the Grote Nete near Hof ter Laken (Heist-op-den-Berg). Tourist highlights like Provinciaal Groendomein Prinsenpark in Retie and Tabloo in Dessel are now also better connected.
Four new walking maps are available: Noorderkempen, de Merode, Kleine Netevallei, and Meren & Woud. Each map bundles the walking junctions in the involved municipalities with recommended starting points, practical information, and tourist tips. The junction system allows for creating new loops each time, whether short or long, relaxing or challenging.
Extra inspiration and ready-made routes for the four walking maps can be found at www.kempen.be. The renewal of the walking offer continues; in the spring of '27, four more walking maps will follow in the Kempen and Nationaal Park Scheldevallei. Additionally, Beleef Provincie Antwerpen, in collaboration with local authorities, is also creating separately signposted walking loops with hexagonal signs, the first of which can already be discovered in De Aschputten and De Mosten in Hoogstraten and along the Kleine Nete in Geel.
The walking maps cost 8 euros each and can be purchased at the tourist information offices of the involved municipalities, at Standaard Boekhandel, or online. The most up-to-date routes and junctions can be found at Wandelknooppunt.be and RouteYou.
