Residents of Zandhoven with limited income can apply for a heating allowance for heating oil, petroleum, or bulk propane gas.

The Social Heating Fund offers a heating allowance for individuals who heat their homes with heating oil (domestic fuel oil or gas oil), petroleum (type c), or bulk propane gas. The allowance ranges from 0.14 to 0.20 euros per liter, depending on the price paid. The maximum allowance is for 1,500 liters per heating season per household.
There are three categories of beneficiaries:
  • Category 1: Entitled to increased reimbursement from health insurance AND a household income below the threshold.
  • Category 2: A gross annual taxable household income of no more than 25,817.27 euros (increased by 4,777.36 euros per dependent). The non-indexed cadastral income (x 3) of immovable property outside the family home is also considered.
  • Category 3: Experiencing debt problems with an ongoing debt mediation or collective debt settlement arrangement, and unable to pay the heating bill.
Your annual gross taxable income and family situation can be found on your tax return.
Applications must be submitted within 60 days after the fuel delivery to the Social Services (OCMW) of your municipality. You need to bring the following documents: the delivery invoice or receipt, your identity card, proof of household income (most recent tax assessment, recent payslip, or recent social benefit statement), and for category 3, the decision of the collective debt settlement or a certificate from your debt mediator.
