The local government of Wuustwezel, in collaboration with Essen, Kalmthout, and Stabroek, has announced the winners of the 'Gerinkel naar de winkel' campaign, which ran from May 1 to June 30, 2026.

The campaign encouraged residents to cycle or walk to local businesses, aiming to promote sustainable transport and support the local economy. Participants could collect stamps on a loyalty card. Additionally, the 'Afvalarm winkelen' (low-waste shopping) initiative focused on reducing packaging waste; those who arrived by bike or foot with reusable bags or containers could earn extra stamps.
A total of 19 prizes were raffled among the participants. The local government provided a grand prize of 250 euros, along with five tourist gift vouchers and three packages of reusable materials. Several local retailers also donated additional prizes.
The winners have been personally contacted by the Entrepreneurship department and do not need to make further contact. The local government thanks all participants and retailers for their cooperation, hoping that the positive impact of short trips and local shopping will continue beyond the campaign period.
