The municipality of Lint has presented a renewed plan to improve traffic safety in Molenstraat, featuring more greenery, clear parking bays, and more effective speed reduction measures.

The renewed plan for Molenstraat in Lint addresses the traffic situation with several interventions. Traffic islands will be removed and replaced with permanent planting beds near house numbers 43 and 110, adding more greenery to the street.
There will be 63 public parking spaces. In Molenstraat, 16 houses lack a garage and driveway, ensuring the new capacity is more than sufficient for residents, second cars, and visitors.
To reduce traffic speed, the number of chicanes will increase from 8 in the pilot design to 17 in the final plan. A chicane is an infrastructural measure designed to effectively slow down traffic.
Traffic measurement results show a clear decrease in average speed. The baseline measurement in 2024, near number 3, recorded an average speed of 39 km/h among 33,000 counted vehicles. After the pilot setup in 2026, near number 129, the average speed dropped to 29 km/h among 49,000 counted vehicles.
Durable road markings will soon be applied at all intersections to improve visibility and safety for all road users.
