The animal market in Mol on Sunday, October 11th, will take place at Rondplein and Santo Tomásplein, but without birds and hobby poultry due to avian flu measures.

The animal market in Mol will be held on Sunday, October 11th, from 8 AM to 1 PM at Rondplein and Santo Tomásplein. This is the last edition of 2026. Due to measures against avian flu, no birds or hobby poultry will be present this time. Other animals remain welcome. The flea market will also proceed as planned.
Avian flu was detected at a hobby farmer's premises in Balen. The Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FAVV) has therefore established a 3-kilometer protection zone and a 10-kilometer surveillance zone. The location of the Mol animal market falls within the protection zone.
Within this zone, gatherings of hobby poultry and other kept birds are prohibited, including markets. Therefore, there will be no birds or hobby poultry at Sunday's animal market.
Other animals, such as rodents and fish, are permitted. The animal market will otherwise proceed as usual from 8 AM to 1 PM at Rondplein and Santo Tomásplein. This is the last animal market of the year.
The weekly flea market will also take place from 8 AM to 1 PM at Rondplein. The restrictions are part of the measures introduced by the FAVV following the detection of avian flu in Balen. Additional rules apply to keepers of (hobby) poultry and other birds in parts of Mol.
